T-ACT (Tsukuba Action Project) is a project to support your "I want to do it".

Greetings from the Vice President

T-ACT is a project to support the kick-off of your thoughts and ideas!

HOMMA Miwako,
Vice President

Hi everyone! How is your university life going? I guess many of you feel that your campus life is not what you imagined due to the unexpected effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. First year students have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic before entering university, second year students felt the effects as soon as they entered university, and third and fourth year students are feeling the effects on their job hunting activities or preparations for further study... Not only has your regular student life been affected, but extracurricular activities have been restricted, and events such as the dormitory festival (Yadokari-sai), sports day, and the university festival have been cancelled.

However, despite the circumstances, I have seen many of you engaging in activities here and there that are not for yourselves, but for the sake of the people around you and the society at large. The University of Tsukuba will not forget your positive attitude of never giving up and your thoughtfulness and kindness to other people.

Some of you may have thoughts and ideas in your mind for activities that can be done in a different situation or method than your usual study or extracurricular activities, that you would like to do by yourself or in a group with like-minded students. Do you notice a problem either on or off campus and wonder what you can do to find a solution? Do you have an idea for an event that would be fun for everyone? The seeds of your idea may be small or vague. Nevertheless, the University of Tsukuba wants to value and nurture the seeds that are growing in each of you. One way we can do that is through our T-ACT framework.

The Tsukuba Action Project (T-ACT) is a unique project launched by the University of Tsukuba to support the initiatives and independent activities of all our students. Up until the 2011 academic year, the project was supported as a MEXT Student Support GP. Since the 2012 academic year, it has been conducted as a Human Potential Development Support project by the university. Plans proposed under this system can be conducted as university-approved projects together with other students and faculty/staff members.

We envisage a diverse range of activities, from academic activities to those focused on daily life and studies and volunteer activities. Feel free to plan activities in areas that you are interested in and want to take the lead in. T-ACT will provide a range of support to help you achieve your plans.

Even if you have ideas that might be difficult to carry out by yourself, you may find new possibilities by talking with students from other academic groups, faculties, graduate schools, or majors. I hope that through T-ACT, you will experience the joys and hardships of achieving your own ideas yourselves and that this experience bears fruit in your future lives.
